“We are excited about the crop of talent our school has produced. The future of cricket is in good hands and promises to continue in the tradition of cricketing excellence at Keps.”
CRICKET OVERVIEW
Cricket has always had the reputation of being one of the most popular sports at the school. Teams are selected and play against other schools on Friday afternoons. The love for, and interest in the game of Cricket begins here!
The juniors progress to hard ball cricket from Under 9. We field an A to D side from Under 9 to Under 11. All boys compete regularly in the private schools’ league. An internal league is also run throughout the term. Competition is fierce for positions in the 6 Open teams. The strength of these teams bears testimony to the depth of our cricket.
Each team practises twice a week with most matches being played on Wednesdays and Saturdays and a few Monday, Tuesday and Thursday fixtures. Saturday games are either morning (08:30 to 13:00) or afternoon (13:30 to 18:00). A highlight each year is the first XV’s Durban Preparatory High School tour in term 1. This is a real privilege and is eagerly anticipated by the boys who make it to the first XV.
