SCHOOL BASED SUPPORT TEAM
At the very core of what we do at KEPSĀ
it is our desire to inspire each boy; to help
him develop the skills and confidence to
achieve his individual goals.
At the very core of what we do at KEPS it is our desire to inspire each boy; to help him develop the skills and confidence to achieve his individual goals. Key to achieving this is identifying and celebrating each boy’s unique strengths, supporting him to overcome challenges, fostering his inquisitive spirit and inspiring him to achieve his personal best. An excellent education is the best gift we can give our young men today, and KEPS is committed to providing the best possible learning environment. Boys are encouraged to develop a broad range of thinking and learning skills and strategies, and each boy is encouraged to achieve academic excellence, as well as develop leadership skills and teamwork in a supportive and stimulating environment. They also have the benefit of developing resilience and self-esteem in an environment which encourages respect for the individual, together with tolerance and understanding of others.
We are privileged to be able to offer the services of a highly experienced and knowledgeable School Based Support Team. Our support team comprises of four support teachers, two Speech, Language & Audiology Therapists, a Counselling Psychologist, counsellors as well as an Occupational Therapist.
The SBST recognises that children have different learning styles, strengths and abilities. The team strives to enhance the social, emotional and academic needs of every child. We work alongside class teachers to provide opportunities for all children to experience success and aim to strengthen and develop their fundamental skills. Support is continually reviewed to accommodate our boys’ needs as well as to keep abreast of new trends in education.
The team meets regularly in the Foundation Phase through Intersen Phase to discuss personalised interventions and to ensure the support of children who are experiencing difficulties of any nature whether it be academic, social or emotional.
This systemic approach creates a platform for the development of holistic strategies, using the child’s strengths and preferred modes of learning. This assists him to function happily and to master the necessary academic skills.
Oak House is home to the SBST where we are able to create a relaxed, conducive environment which enables and accommodates effective learning. The SBST at KEPS looks forward to facilitating and supporting your son to be whatever he dreams of being and to take on whatever future he chooses.
